On Friday, Charlene and Albert had their civil ceremony, so there were already technically married. For the wedding at the Place du Palais, the new Princess Charlene of Monaco wore an off-the-shoulder ivory duchesse satin gown with crystal, gold and pearl embroidery on the front and a double cathedral train. She added a long veil in off-white, embroidered silk tulle with a front tier. The design which took 2500 hours of work to produce was exquisite. The gown was created in an off white silk fabric. The neckline was off the shoulder with an unusual front pleat, which highlighted Wittstock's gorgeous swimmer shoulders. The dress had a three tiered train. The gown was embellished with 40,000 Swarovski crystals, 2,000 mother of pearl drops, platinum coated thread and 30,000 'golden stones' according to a release from the palace. The embellishments formed a floral design. The long veil was made of silk tulle. She carried a tight white floral bouquet with a small drop. Her hair was adorned by an unusual 19th century diamond headpiece that came down on the side. It was not a tiara. Bridesmaid dresses were done in red and white striped silk taffeta. They wore wide brim straw hats lined in silk. Prince Albert II gifted black velvet chokers with a gold Provencal cross. They all wore darling black laced up shoes. These were the cutest bridesmaids ever. The royal couple exchanged platinum and gold Cartier rings. Albert, 53, already has an illegitimate six-year-old son called Alexandre through a Togolese former air hostess called Nicole Coste, and a 19-year-old daughter called Jazmin with Tamara Rotolo, an American estate agent. Both were kept away from Albert’s marriage to avoid ‘media exposure.
Prince Albert is due to submit to DNA tests to answer claims that he has fathered a third and possibly fourth illegitimate child, which would have occurred during his relationship with his new bride.
The overall look for the wedding was opulent, yet reserved. Charlene looked nice at the civil ceremony yesterday, but she looked incredible today. Seems all is well in Monaco.
